The present study includes the analysis of orientation and degree of permeability in the process of local scouring of permeable spur dikes and in the flow and bed conditions of their environment. The investigation allowed us to monitor measure and analyze the flow-bed-spur dyke interaction, considering three degrees of permeability and three different orientation angles. The experimental tests were based on a straight rectangular channel 11 m long and 1.9 m wide, with a bottom slope of 0.01%. The bed material consisted of uniform fine sand with a mean diameter of 0.23 mm and a specific weight of 2.75 g/cm³. The flume has 0.48 m projected length, body permeable with piles, not submerged and thin. The flow condition was quite close to clear water defined according to the Shields movement threshold theory, resulting in a flow rate of 0.085 m³/s and a mean depth of 0.175 m. Three types of spur dikes were constructed, 30%, 50% and 70% permeability, each oriented at 45°, 90° and 135°, giving a total of 9 tests. In addition, a tenth additional test without structure was considered for the study of general scour and contraction.
