This thesis proposes a model of how to establish the control and monitoring of road construction projects through an integral approach, so that it can identify which construction processes have low productivity, for which it will be monitored, it will identify the causes of non-compliance, in turn analyze the improvement of processes that may be applied using the DMAIC methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), in order to improve productivity, costs, control of progress Regarding the planned, know the current status of the project and make projections based on the ratios obtained from each process and anticipate future losses or savings that could be generated. The specific problem in this road project is the inoperability and “stand by“ costs of the equipment, the restrictions for social, demographic issues, as well as the estimated cost budget is relatively low compared to other projects of similar magnitude and similar characteristics, that is why to address this problem several tools will be implemented to control and monitor the project such as: The “3-week plan“, PAC (percentage of completed activities), the EVA (earned value analysis), the DCA (daily costs analysis) of the most incidental or necessary processes to control, combined with the DTC (road time diagram), with which it is possible to have a future outlook and foresee future deviations according to productivity indicators; it will focus a lot on the unit cost of the processes, it will also implement lean tools for analysis, control and decision making, all these topics will be developed in detail, and the results of the solution based on monitoring and control of the processes as well as in the study of productivity of the most incidents processes using the DMAIC methodology through process improvement. In this way, by taking control and monitoring of the project on a weekly and preferably daily basis, combining traditional and current tools, with the control tools used in such research, continuous improvement is achieved and serves as a reference for other large-scale projects of big magnitude on roads, as well as an example to implement an orderly control of the most important points that can be controlled and thereby obtain good results in the project.
