The present research work of the technical-economic type seeks to establish the potential energy savings obtained due to the replacement of incandescent and fluorescent lamps by energy-saving LED lamps, in public buildings nationwide. To carry out this research, a model of the experimental type was used, which consisted in conducting a field survey, using questionnaires designed for this purpose, later this information was processed according to the indicators required by the lighting study and finally elaborated the graphs and visualization tables of the information to generate knowledge and analyze the scenarios of potential savings. Likewise, the information was validated using digital cartography available for free access on the web, and the data were processed in standard spreadsheets and in free software for the processing of spatial information. The procedure carried out has the contribution of providing information for decision making in a much shorter time than traditional procedures and at a significantly lower cost to carry out the energy planning of interventions on climate change. As a result, it has been identified that energy saving offsets the investment made for a short period of approximately 2 to 3 years and also reduces the installed power by lighting by 50% in public buildings nationwide.
