Climate change in areas such as the coast in the country has the consequence of decreasing the availability of water resources, which leads to have to optimize the use of available water, in this context the present research work is concerned with analyzing under a economic efficiency approach the economic viability of productive resources mainly in the agricultural sector for its different processes. The objective of the study is that the water market for economic activity conditions the economic feasibility of the use of treated wastewater for a specific product, so the general hypothesis is that the water market characteristics for an specific economic activity in the basin of the Chili river conditions the economic feasibility of the use of treated wastewater for such a productive purpose in Arequipa in 2016. The research level is correlational and at the same time applied, the method used in the research is the deductive and the design is non-experimental, particular data has been used for operational variables from the neighboring area to the La Enlozada wastewater treatment plant, from specialized sources that reflect the average conditions of a certain area, this being official and reliable information. The approach is given within the framework of the Theory of welfare and evaluation of projects, considering the value of the direct use that water has as an intermediate good for productive activities; Considering that the option is to market the treated wastewater in view of the water resource deficit in the Quilca Chili basin, so a general methodology is required to establish in which productive activities, it is economically viable to reuse the wastewater from the PTAR Enlozada in Arequipa Metropolitan. Obtaining as a result that the methodological proposal to establish the economic viability of the use of wastewater treated for a such productive purpose, is consistent.
