The present study analyzes the functional performance of the Slurry Seal surface treatment on roads with low traffic volume, in two geographical zones characteristic of Peru (sierra and jungle). The reference is made to a conservation project executed under the contract conservation modality by service levels. The sierra and jungle areas are the most vulnerable to deterioration of the pavement due to heavy rainfall, climate, poor soil quality, unstable slopes and topography. To this, adding the lack of geometric design and the contractual limitations for the execution of complementary works for the improvement of the superficial and deep drainage. These factors are analyzed within the present study for each geographical area. Considering the lnternational Roughness lndex (IRI) as the main indicator in conservation contracts, a detailed analysis is carried out for each of the homogeneous sections in each geographical area. The analysis is complemented with the evaluation of superficial faults, macrotexture and analysis of the bowl of deflections. Which are indicators of the level of comfort, safety and structural condition. Likewise, the costs associated with each type of deterioration are estimated by geographical area. From the functional evaluation, the deterioration of the treatment in the jungle zone is mainly due to problems of structural origin and limitations of contractual origin for the execution of greater interventions on the platform, which are detailed for each section under study. The treatment in the sierra zone reflects a good performance of superficial faults, however, the roughness exceeds the contractual limits, which is evaluated and identifying the main factors that originate it. Finally, lessons learned are presented, which are useful to conservative contractors to be applied in the conservation projects in charge in order to improve the management of the road infrastructure. Likewise, the entity can implement improvements in new bids for contracts by service lt':lvels with the recommendations given in this study.
