Currently in a company belonging to the hydrocarbons sector, located in Conchán-Lima, the provisión of services is contracted to a Private Surveillance company, which is in charge of various functions, one of them being the subject of study of this thesis: The control of entry and exit of contractors to the facilities of the Refinery. To control the entry of contractors into the company's facilities, a monthly schedule is used, which indicates the authorization of entry of contractor personnel to the company's facilities, with a start and end date. This monthly schedule must be reviewed daily by the surveillance reception staff at the two access gates to the Refinery; however, this revision is done manually, causing pain in the neck, back, lumbar areas, and wrists of the reception staff s hands; due to the rapidity and high frequency with which they carry out the verification of the programming, in order not to delay the start of the work that takes place inside the company's facilities, causing the reception staff to be exposed to risk factors for prolonged periods of time, which with the passing of time can generate in them, Musculoskeletal Disorders, which are considered by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an occupational disease. Another important point to note, is that the delay in the entry of contractor personnel to the facilities, delays the scheduled work, generating the company to pay for man hours not worked, extend the scheduled deadlines to finish the work, chaos, disorder, contractor dissatisfaction, among others. In order to determine if the task of the reception reception staff as such was acceptable or required a redesign in the post, an ergonomic assessment was made to the work post, using the RULA methodology. The results obtained through the evaluation indicated that an ergonomic intervention was necessary, which consisted in the design and implementation of a software based on Visual Basic for Applications algorithms, which replaces the manual activities carried out by the surveillance personnel. Once the software was implemented, the job was re-evaluated, the results of which indicate that the tasks carried out by the surveillance personnel as such are acceptable. Thus concluding that by implementing a software based on Visual Basic for Aplications algorithms applied to the process of entering and leaving contractors, it was possible to control the biomechanical risks to which the surveillance personnel were exposed at the beginning, thus complying with the current legal regulations on occupational safety and health, and thus avoiding possible fines and sanctions against the company by the competent authorities. Likewise, through the implementation of the software, it was possible to optimize the process of control of entry and exit of contractors to the Refinery, reducing the time of entry, and generating savings to the company for not paying men hours not worked to contractors.
