The Theory of Regionalized Variables by Dr. G. Matheron, commonly known as Geostatistics, is the tool that has best represented the occurrence of metal elements in nature, because it uses fundamental characteristics such as the value of ore grade and UTM coordinates, solving in this way many of the engineering problems that occur in ore bodies. However, there is still little geostatistical work done in veins. For this reason, a methodology on the application of Geostatistics in these mineral deposits was developed as a thesis topic. For our purpose, the Bertha vein has been chosen, which is located on the western flank of the Andes of Peru, where outcrop Mesozoic and Cenozoic stratigraphic units corresponding to the Maranon fold and thrust belt. This is presented as part of a set of veins and faults belonging to a deposit of Skarn type, with an average thickness of 1.20 m and an approximate length of 200 m, it is characterized by presenting a mineralogical assemblage constituted by galena, sphalerite, marmatite, chalcopyrite and sulfosal silver; whose polymetallic composition gives us Cu, Zn, Pb and Ag, as study variables. The samples that have been taken in the studied area were organized in a database that was input into specialized software that contains Geostatistics tools. The exploratory analysis was done, which includes everything related to Statistics as the construction of experimental histograms of the elements that allowed modeling their distribution ore grade and detection of possible erratic populations. The experimental structural analysis was made, which includes everything related to Geostatistics as the construction of variograms of each variable of study as well as the calculation of the influence ellipsoid. With the previous steps already done some useful parameters were obtained for the estimation process of resources of the Bertha vein, through the previously constructed geological solid to which a block model was adapted, estimating the average ore grade of each block by the method of Kriging of Matheron were obtained the measured, indicated and inferred resources. The calculation of measured resources + indicated with cut off at 3 % Zn, gave us as a result 9 933.59 t, with an average ore grade of 6.20 %. The economic valuation was of 31 097 701.77 american dollars. In essence, this methodology resolves the needs of the professional geologist in three fundamental aspects: (1) Analyzes and models the lognormal distribution laws of Cu, Pb, Zn and Ag, detecting the capping values of the variables under study. (2) Quantifies the degree of anisotropy of the variables under study, through the variograms that allow obtaining the orientation of the hydrothermal solutions that have filled in the fault produced by local and regional tectonic events. (3) Estimates optimally mineral resources through the Ordinary Kriging method, which not only considers geometric aspects but also geological aspects.
