The present research uses a computational modelling of the transmission networks of the national interconnected sector (SEIN) in high voltages, with the aim of evaluating different conditions of participation of generation with Renewable Energy Sources (RES) to optimize the required transmission reinforces per each scenario of RES participation, thus serving as a guide for mid-term decision-making. The model applied to the national transmission network for the projections given by COES SINAC (National Interconnected System Operations Committee, regulator of the transmission system, for the year 2018 Mid-term period) is a MINLP model developed in GAMS, it works as well for N normal operation, as for N-1 contingency operation conditions. This model was checked and validated with information from previous studies, which confirmed the validity of the method used and the efficiency in the emission of results, in order to be able to use these methods in the present work, also the information provided by the COES SINAC and OSINERGMIN regulators, which publish information on the current state of national networks and the projected to the year 2018 was used. The best scenario per each RER participation rate evaluated which should be used in long term was calculated, with the aim to build the right infrastructure in transmission networks enabled to respond the RES generation insertion, it will trigger the periodic actualization of transmission expansion planning.
