The work objetive is research and propase the “Vertical Cráter Retreat Mining Method applicatión at peruvian mines with suitable characteristics, whose purpose is to obtain a better production, to improve the productivity and minimize costs. The VCRM is a bulk mining method, it's based on C. Livingston Spherical Charge Crater Blasting Theories. The method consists in the drilling with “DTH“ of 6 inch diameter hales from topsill, down dip to an under cut on the level below, average 36 m. in lenght and the blasthole patterns is nominally 3.0x3.0 m.; the lenght of charge is 0.92 cm., the bottom of each hale is then loaded from above with 20.85 Kg. SLX-40. The production at mine “San Rafael“ is 850 Ton/day, with ore grades 1.3% Cu and 3.5% Sn, the stope production will be of 156,000 Ton, 300 Ton/day, broken efficience 81 Ton/shot and a charge factor 0.25 Kg/Ton. The drilling and blasting costs it will be reduced from 2.08 to 0.79 US$/Ton, the mining cost 7.95 to 5.63 US$/Ton, a productivity 26.02 Ton/ms and a reduction 50 % of mining time, with stoping save of US$ 401,000. In conclusion, is applicable the VCRM mining method at mine “San Rafael“ and others peruvian mines.
