The commercialization and distribution of compressed natural gas (CNG) comprises a series of activities that involve a high level of risk during operations. These risks are related to the dangerous characteristics of natural gas, to the operations conditions and with the high production volume to satisfy the increasing demand from the national market. This leads to a special emphasis on the process safety, especially in the undesired events that can materialize as a result of human errors, equipment failure unforeseen conditions or deviation of the process variables, among others. The Process Safety Management (PSM) bring up the need to implement studies that llow a rigorous analysis of the hazards involved with the activities, installation or the process itself, in order to propose measures to prevent, control and mitigate the risks assessed; as well as optimizing material and human resources. The present project aims to carry out a Study of Scope of Consequences (EAC) in the commercialization and distribution of CNG that allows to estimate by means of numerical simulation, using the EFFECTS software, the scope of the physical effects dangerous that can derive from thermal radiation, pressure wave, toxic concentrations, mechanical explosion, among other; obtained from accidental scenarios caused by leaks and/or accumulations of flammable clouds from natural gas. The study will also allow to define zone of domino effect on the installations where the operations of the commercialization and distribution of compressed natural gas are carried out, define the intervention / alert zones for the people who will attend the activation level of the emergency plan, modifications or implementations of improvement in engineering and in the process safety.
