The present research had as purpose to analyze the performance of the concrete, through laboratory tests in fresh and hardened state, with the addition of Muroxcrete PR additive, which is retardant plasticizing additive, according to the technique sheet given by the manufacturer. The present thesis will serve to verify the veracity of such properties. For the tests a fine aggregate from the Carabayllo quarry was used, as well as a thick aggregate from the Unicon quarry; plus type V Portland cement and the additive Muroxcrete PR. At first, the test with fine and thick aggregate was done, and then the concrete tests in fresh and hardened state. It worked with 12 mix designs, 3 of concrete pattern and 9 of concrete with additive. All the designs with a settlement between 3” – 4”. The relations water/cement used were: 0.60, 0.65 and 0.70; and the additive dosage: 0.1%, 0.15% and 0.2% of the weight of cement. After getting the results of every tests, these were compared together to set every relation water/cement. The tests on concrete were applied in fresh state (slump, unit weight and setting time) and in hardened state (compressive strength and tensile strength by diametric compression). The tests on concrete mentioned before were applied in the Materials Testing Laboratory (LEM) of the faculty of Civil Engineering of the National University of Engineering (UNI). By addition the additive, the delay of the initial and final setting time for each a/c was achieved; where more additive, time increases with respect to the concrete pattern, from 2.78% to 14.67% for initial setting time, and from 0.63% to 16.14% for final setting time.
