In the present research, was analyzed the efficiency that has the pre-treatment of the WWTP CITRAR FIA – UNI to remove BOD, COD, sulfates, settleable solids, and evaluate the operation of the units of pre-treatment: grids and screens (thicks and thins). Other parameters such as speed and retention time in the grids and the solids waste on the screens was also analyzed. The research was divided in two stages, in the first stage, the wastewater was analyzed to obtain its behavior pattern for two months. The temperature, PH, conductivity and turbidity was the parameters analyzed. In the second stage; BOD, COD, SS and solids waste on screens (thicks and thins), velocity and retention time in the grids was added to the analyzed parameters. It had four control points: Inlet – After screen thicks – After screen thin – Pre- treatment output. These points were kept for the two stages. The results showed a COD removal efficiency equal to 2 – 3%, an efficiency of BOD removal equal to -10%. Sulfates are increased by 0 – 20% and excellent settleable solids removal, on average of 60 – 80% per day. The waste solids retained on screens thick and thin are 180.1 and 116.4 g on average, respectively.
