This research focuses on evaluating the improvement of the mechanical properties of a sandy-clayey soil, and the reduction of the susceptibility of this one to water with the addition of a new chemical stabilizer called Consolid System and a traditional chemical stabilizer, for this thesis cement was chosen. In order to achieve the objectives of the thesis, the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the soil to be stabilized were evaluated. Subsequent to this, the dosages of the Consolid System with which it was going to work were determined. The improvement of the mechanical properties was evaluated by performing C.B.R. test and Resistance to compression test of the different dosages of the Consolid System and the soil-cement. In order to evaluate the susceptibility of the soil to water, the capillary ascension test was performed, absorption and expansion were also evaluated in C.B.R. Test and Capillary Rise Test. Subsequently, the dosages that met the specifications for chemically stabilized soil and soil-cement were chosen. With the results of the experimental tests, a pavement design was carried out using the methodology proposed by NAASRA, determining the thicknesses for the 5 proposed solutions. After that, an economic evaluation was made comparing the costs of the 5 proposed solutions. Finally, after evaluating the physical, mechanical and volumetric properties of the soils stabilized with the Consolid System, it is concluded that there is improvement of the physical-mechanical properties of the natural soil, as well as a decrease in the susceptibility of the soil to water, and in the same way it happens with the soil-cement, however, there is no significant reduction of the cost against a traditional solution. Finally, it is recommended to research on tests to simulate the effect of water on compacted soils for pavements.
