The present research thesis consisted in the study of the UASB reactor (Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket), which is used in the primary treatment of domestic wastewater, applied to the removal of organic matter and solids. The system was designed at pilot scale in the city of Puno to investigate the removal of organic matter. Samples were obtained from the sewer line of the “Espinar PTAR” and then were taken to the research site. However, the sample of residual water passed through a preliminary treatment (coarse screening and Desander). The research consists of 02 stages. Stage 1 consisted of stabilizing anaerobic sludge for the UASB reactor as part of the start up. Stage 2 consisted in evaluating the hydraulic retention time (TRH) of the UASB reactor in the following hours: 4-6-8-10-12-14, also several physical and chemical parameters were evaluated. From the evaluation of the physical and chemical parameters of stage 02, the highest efficiencies were achieved for the UASB reactor, with average percentages of removal of 50.8% organic load with HRT [6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 hours] , Total dissolved solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TSS), total dissolved solids (TSS) The average methane gas production for the UASB reactor is 1113 ml / day.
