The purpose of this research is to design a virtual reality system that allows to motivate the learning process in the subject of Engineering Design of the students of the third cycle of the School of Civil Engineering of a University, through the design of an environment of virtual reality, in which one or more students can perform experimental design practices of building structures such as houses, apartments, bridges based on primitive solids: sphere, cone, pyramid, prism, cylinder, etc. In the present work a type of experimental research was developed and for its validation a sample of 76 students was used, applying the technique of the survey and as an instrument, a structured questionnaire of pre-test and post- test questions. The platforms selected to design the virtual reality system SIREV (Virtual Reality System) are: The Android operating system, Sweet Home 3D as a blueprint design environment, Unity3D game engine software, MonoDevelop as anintegrated development environment and Samsung Oculus VR, Samsung Galaxy S7 phone as a visualization environment. The SIREV is imported into the Android system for its respective visualization. The results of this investigation are: a) Determination of the motivation process variable, which will serve as the basis for the virtual reality system model. b) Selection of software to design virtual reality system. c) SIREV model that corresponds to a virtual reality learning system. It is concluded that many of the students surveyed believe that using the Virtual Reality Learning System during class sessions motivates their learning, as this is an innovative way to assimilate knowledge, in the same way, because it is a very dynamic and entertaining resource, which stimulates student attention and concentration in the development of their learning. Key words: Virtual reality, Virtual learning environments, immersive, 2D design, 3D design.
