Minera Milpo SA it is a company dedicated to mining activity currently operates minera Cerro Lindo polymetallic deposit which is a unit. The mining method used is to tajeo sublevel (Sub Level Stoping) with the use of cemented backfill. Under the deepening and widening project production mine Cerro Lindo, it had to make an assessment geomechanics underground mined at deeper levels (below level. 1820). so in this thesis the possible implications are evaluated from the point of view geomechanical for future mining operation to ensure satisfactory conditions of stability of excavations associated with the future mining of this deposit with expanded production. Company Minera Milpo SAA He engaged the services of DCR IngenierosS.R.Ltda., to conduct a review and geomechanical assessment by collecting information from previous studies. To meet its objectives were necessary field work, laboratory and cabinet. Are techniques set out in this thesis, which are used as a tool to evaluate the sizing tajeos and mining sequence and optimization of the filling paste. In addition to the company SVS was contacted to perform validation of the above dimensioned studies through a gap analysis or “gap analysis“, this analysis indicated that a re-sampling of drill core, detailed mapping of galleries was necessary and accesses and complementary laboratory tests. In a first stage, the study was aimed at carrying out basic research, in order to obtain the necessary information, which allowed us to evaluate the main factors of stability control, and estimate the parameters basic geomechanics. In a second stage, the information obtained during basic research, in order to assess the conditions of stability of underground excavations associated with the mining was integrated. As part of basic research, has made a detailed characterization of the rock mass of the ore bodies OB1, OB2, OB5 and OB6, from the point of lithological view of its structure and quality, based on geotechnical mapping work underground mining of levels. 1770, 1800 and 1820, and geotechnical mapping of 14,000 m of diamond drilling rocky witnesses, some of whom were witnesses oriented. This led to the geomechanical characterization zoning of the site under level 1820. On the other hand, were determined based on tests conducted in-situ, in laboratory and using criteria fails, and physical parameters of intact rock strength, of discontinuities and rock mass properties. The conditions of the presence of water and efforts were also evaluated. As part of the assessment of conditions of stability, a number of analyzes, input data set in basic research, which led to the recommendations on strategies for the future undermined both safe and efficient were made: Between others are given: the preferential direction of travel of the excavations, the dimensions of the tajeos, the sequence of advance of mining, the requirements for maintenance of the excavation and strength requirements of the filling. This information will be useful for engineers who are responsible for the planning of Cerro Lindo.
