In the present investigation is evaluated and analyzes the cause - effect of the variables: “Geothermal energy as an economic and sustainable alternative“ and “Alternative solution to the shortage of power generation in southern Peru“, finding that the deficit generation in the southern reaches average levels of 45%, which makes this area very prone to breakdowns and outages with all the damage that means electrical system, since 2008. In this regard, has been simulated the economic dispatch of SEIN with and without the participation of a geo-thermal plant of 100 MW given by the Pre-Feasibility Study Geothermal Field Calientes, Tacna – Peru, made by the West Japan Engineering Company. These simulations show that they would achieve significant reduction in total operating cost for the SEIN being of 14.8% and to the south in particular 42.0%, in this sense, the savings generated would offset the investment over a period of three years and 6 months. That is, the SEIN a whole is benefited in a fraction of own payback. The participation of the geo-thermal power plant would help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in a range of 4.14% to 5.97% in 2015 and 2016, to wide SEIN. For the aforementioned reasons, is identified that in the current local schema, savings and beneficial a technology offer the electrical system as a whole, are not subject to a particular incentive, something that is considered should be the subject of consideration, in order to achieve the effective contribution that geothermal energy is able to provide the country.
