The main topic of this document is the Drilling Specific Energy (DSE). This parameter involves the mechanical (axial and torsional) and hydraulic drilling factors. The followed procedure was: 1. Calculate the DSE for ten (10) wells with the drilling parameters data that were obtained by the drilling equipment instrumentation. 2. Calculate the Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) of the rock with the Sonic log. 3. Graph the DSE against depth. 4. Graph the DSE and the ROP (Rate Of Penetration) against depth. 5. Graph the CCF (Cumulative Cost per Foot) and the DSE against depth. 6. Graph the DSE against ROP. 7. Analyze these graphs that were obtained. From the analysis of the graphs it is posible to identify where the drilling was optimum and also where it becames inefficient, without knowing if the reason for this inefficiency was the bit balling, the poor cleaning of the bottom hole or the vibration of the drill pipe. It is also possible to identify the optimal parameters for each type of rock according to the interval of the formation that is drilled, these parameters reach an optimal ROP with which it is possible to find the time that can be saved and therefore the cost that this time implies. This analysis was performed in already drilled wells, however, it is applicable during the drilling operation, which is a great advantage as it expands the database of the developing field and obviously it is also an economic advantage because it will allow to reach the technical limit of drilling according to the reality of the equipment used in the drilling.
