This work was dedicated to the removal of copper the final effluent cyanide detoxification process, whose initial concentration was on an average value of 2 ppm. The research methodology is experimental and scientific which consisted, in a first stage in the characterization of the resulting effluent detoxification process cyanide (which was obtained by the INCO method), effluent without sludge detoxification (clarified effluent); This characterization included the analysis of total and dissolved metals (on the basis of the law of metal mining effluents DS 010-2010 MINAN), and in the second stage ion exchange resins used in the post - treatment of effluent detoxification of cyanide in one laboratory pilot plant, where removal of copper ions was performed on an exchange circuit with two resins one having chelation property (LEWATIT 207) and the other is weak anionic (LP-64), obtaining a resulting effluent whose content copper was below 0.4 ppm, established in the DS 010-2010 MINAN. With the results of this research could propose a post treatment of the resulting effluent cyanide detoxification process, the resin treatment being one of the cleanest processes. This research will allow the company to implement a specific solution to meet the maximum permissible limits of mining effluents, environmental problem generated by performing the metallurgical operation.
