This thesis applies the RCM methodology for maintenance improvement to a roller press HPGR. The Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) is a method developed in the early 60s in the aviation industry to improve maintenance techniques, either preventive, predictive or corrective. The method is quite effective and focuses on determining the best maintenance strategy to a specific mode of failure. The period of analysis of the thesis is understood from the month of March 2014 (start of the new crushing plant) until June 2015. There, meetings and site visits took place, to finally reach the RCM analysis. After the analysis of criticality to equipment crushing plant, RCM process is described step by step with all the theory required for proper application. This study makes the analysis of criticality of the equipment crushing plant, choose critical equipment and divides it into subsystems in order to describe the function and failure modes that would prevent the subsystem will not meet its required function. Finally the RCM analysis is presented, successfully determining maintenance tasks necessary to keep the function of the analyzed subsystem. Also, the appropriate economic analysis is carried out to determine the impact of the application of this maintenance methodology on the selected equipment.
