This thesis aims to demonstrate how you can improve productivity and reduce costs of not quality of a shoe company by applying lean principles that are mainly related to the generation of efficient processes and add value to the product, eliminating as excessive waste transport, waiting, unnecessary movement and resulting rework and benefit the organization and its stakeholders. Thus after a diagnosis made to the current situation of the shoe company, it is concluded that the problem is inefficiency in the process, with the main causes lack of a methodology to improve the production system and the lack of measurement waste that cause costs. To solve this problem, Lean principles with the implementation of its tools are proposed. Application benefits of the proposal are very positive with a greater than zero NPV and IRR greater the opportunity cost of making the project viable and profitable. This paper gives us shows the potential benefits that any company in the sector and related be achieved through appropriate implementation read and major impacts on both productivity is related to improve capacity and reduce lead time to meet dates deliveries and consequently positive impact on sales revenue and, on the other hand no quality reduction caused more by the wastage caused by rework involving consumption of resources (materials, man hours, etc.) which directly affects in product cost. The Lean methodology has been successful in the areas in which it has been implemented as the automotive, textile, plastics, food, etc., however, in the footwear sector there are few implementations and especially in countries like Spain, Italy, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil who they are leaders in the leather footwear industry. In Peru, there is still no clear references regarding an implementation in more depth, there are only cases related to the implementation of 5S and Kaizen, is why born the need for research to help provide tools that allow more flexible to market demand and also meets the objectives of cost, quality and delivery to be competitive in the industry organization. Key words: lean manufacturing, productivity, quality, costs, waste, footwear.
