The work was originated in order to improve the performance of the organization, considering that obey the minimum requirements of the law is not enough, as this would show a reactive organization. By using as a model of management to ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18000 systems, it is possible to prevent a greater range of harms to safety and environment. Therefore, in this thesis, it will be shown that management based on the mentioned systems, will give the organization the necessary tools to prevent, control and mitigate the effects that could appear by the activities of the company. The thesis refers to the requirements of international standards ISO 14001: 2004 and OHSAS 18001: 2007, divided into parts. It begins with an analysis of management systems, the reason why the organization should take them as reference and the consequences could appear by the time the company aligns to them. Then, a review of the processes taking place in the organization is done, in order to know the interactions they have with the environment and all staff in the organization. After reviewing the processes, the rate of compliance with the requirements of the standards is analyzed by the organization, based on the current situation we have. Finally, a multidisciplinary team is gathered to align and extend the existing management as required by each point of international standards and have management as proposed. Key Words: System, management, Safety, health, environment, norm, laws, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.
