The Gold Fields La Cima S.A operational unit “Cerro Corona” has as vision: To be a Global Leader in Sustainable Gold Mining. Due to this, the need to work with efficiency and effectiveness refers directly to the continuous optimization of the process, which by definition corresponds to doing something in the best possible way under specific conditions, becoming an important tool to reduce costs and increase the revenues of the operation. The external factors that represent a threat to the profitability of the operations are the variability and instability of the international prices of Copper and Gold, mainly. The current thesis aims to reduce the variability of the pH in the rougher flotation circuit, since this variable has a negative impact on the consumption of flotation reagents. That is to say, if the pH in the rougher flotation circuit is not controlled, the consumption of reagents would increase. The Six Sigma methodology is used to control the pH of the rougher flotation circuit. It uses statistics as a tool for analysis, identifying the variables that significantly influence pH variability. The main objective of the Six Sigma methodology is to be able to satisfy the client's requirement. The Process Management is our main client in this case, since we are in trying to optimize the consumption of flotation reagents. Therefore, this is an opportunity for improvement.
