Total Body Irradiation (TBI) with photon beam is a technique and component interdisciplinary used in. cancer treatment of hematopoietic type, as leukemia or blood cancer, to allow immunosuppression of patient to achieve sterile conditions necessary for bone marrow transplants. This requires dose prescribed in the midplane (half patient under sagittal section) and obtain <lose distribution approximately accurate ( deviation range ± 10% prescribed dose) throughout the body; in addition the protection organs at risk, as the lungs. Development this work used a homogeneous phantom ( chest simulator ), which was bilaterally and compensation form AP and P A irradiated, with photon beams generated 6 MV Clinac 21 OOC Linear Accelerator; the calculation of absorbed dose at any point along the central axis of the beam in response and evaluate. Algorithm used was based on the values of dose out surface of phantom, based detectors by optically stimulated luminescence (A{iQ3: C). Comparing these calculations with ionization chamber P'IW Freiburg Model TW31010-2167 dose readings in the middle level, as 8,66% desviation for bilateral irradiation, followed the 7,015 cm evaluation for cerrobend block of 93,95% attenuation; this result pennit bilatera11y radiation at the same time, behind the chest protection in the lungs level, as 9,41% deviation. Finally AP-PA irradiation as compensation was applied as 8, 11 % deviation. These percentages indicate to compare the prescribed dose in midplane and along the central axis not outpaced ± 10%, established by AAPM Report No. 17 protocol, therefore use of these detectors and results pennit develop altemative dosimetric method in cases of total body irradiation, and helps to ensure the treatment quality.
