NICARAGUA SA Mining Company HEMCO (HEMCO) since 2009 is implementing modifications and changes in their management, looking for how to improve their productivity, to reduce their cost operation and work with high safety standards. As part of their strategic plan and aim of gradually increasing their mine production from 470 TPD to 1,300 TPD, they decided to start with preparation tasks and exploitation at “Pluto“, “Venus“ and “Neblina“ veins. Also, developing Martha 850 cruise where they expect to get all mineral with diesel equipment, currently they use locomotives with battery. The mine has a natural ventilation system with recirculating air, it is ranging from higher levels (not defined ventilation) mainly because there are a lot of chimney to surface, these flows are really variables and makes the air direction is changing between day and night. Also, there is not a plan of measuring points and no instruments needed to achieve them. Therefore, there is a necessity to redesign their ventilation system, with the support of VENTSIM™ Visual Advanced software, which has been a great benefit and through to this program is able to plan and improve the current and futures ventilation circuits. For this purpose field data were adjusted with the data generated from software and on the basis of this model began to design and simulate many scenarios.
