The Sabajo area is located in the district of Para - Suriname. This property lies at the boundary of the districts of Para, Brokopondo and Sipaliwini. According with the geology data collected from the drill holes and outcrop descriptions, this area consists of sequences of various meta-volcanic and meta-sedimentary rocks divided by the Cassador fault. This fault separates a dacitic volcanic unit, probably Paramaka Formation rocks, from volcano-clastic and meta-sedimentary rocks, probably Armina Formation rocks. The Sabajo Fault dips steeply NE at 75 degrees and strikes NW-SE. Both Paramaka and Armina rocks lie sub-parallel to the Sabajo Fault and dip steeply NE. The fault can be traced over a distance in excess of 10 km, but is most conspicuous in the deposit area where it juxtaposes highly graphitic meta-mudstone against sheared, light colored, dacitic rocks. Black, highly graphitic, intensely sheared, meta-mudstone is found within the Cassador shear zone. The rock is easily distinguished by its high reflectance, coal black color, abundant slip surfaces and minor folds. Hypogene gold mineralization is associated with quartz veins, veinlets and silicification emplased along the Cassador fault and also extentional faults along the contacts with the dikes. Gold and arsenic geochemistry data collected from soil auger sampling indicate primary targeting vectors for trenching and drilling. Gold and arsenic anomalies in soil auger samples outline northwest trend coincident with gold mineralization in saprolite and bedrock associated with the Cassador fault trend. At Sabajo, correlation matrix from surface soil and drill hole geochemistry data shows gold is positively low correlation with arsenic and sulfur. This likely reflects gold association with silicification, especially higher grade intervals. Geophysics dipole–dipole IP, is a primary exploration tool. The Sabajo sedimentary sequence with carbon, graphite, and minor (1-5%) but rather ubiquitous sulfide content, gives conspicuous low-resistivity – high-chargeability responses. The interpretations of these studies conclude the geology and structural characteristics that control gold mineralization in the orogenic Sabajo deposit and determinate the gold-arsenic geochemistry correlation, as well as, shown the magnetic and electric geophysics characteristics of the lithology sequences at Sabajo area.
