The present investigation aims to assess the ultimate bond strength along the interface between soil and grout t, as a basic parameter for the design of post-tensioned anchors grouted in medium dense to very dense sandy gravel. This research was sponsored by the company GEOTECNICA S.A.C., to improve the design of anchored walls, used for slopes contention resulting from the excavation for the construction of basements of new buildings in Lima city. Over sixteen (16) performed pullout tests on GEOTECNICA patented anchors, and considering the numerous tests anchor carried out since 1996 by GEOTECNICA S.A.C. in Peru, it was concluded that depth of the bond length D, on t values, is not affected by the depth of the excavation. However, we found that t potential relationship is variable and inversely proportional to the length of the bond length L, appearing the concept of efficiency factor in post-tensioned anchors f that define the bond length L, from which, the increments are not significant in terms of t and therefore the load capacity of the anchor in terms of ultimate bond strength along the interface between soil and grout. The conclusion under the conditions of the study, is not recommended use of bond lengths greater than L = 7.00 m. Finally, the results of full-scale tests have been processed and reflected in equations, tables and graphs that can be used as a usefull tools for designers of post-tensioned anchors founded in conglomerate of Metropolitan Lima or soils with similar physical-mechanical properties. Their implementation will optimize designs, providing security and economy on deep excavation works.
