The study area is located in the western range of the Andes of northern Peruframed between the Coastal Batholith and the massif of Marañón, in sandstone and quartzite of the Chimu Formation (Lower Cretaceous). Late Cretaceous these rocks were subjected to strong cortical folding and lifting caused by compressive forces, called Cycle Andino. During the Miocene these rocks were subjected to greater deformation and strong hydrothermal activity, which were able to form mineralized and mineral deposits of economic interest. The various prospecting and exploration projects, incurred by the geology team Yanacocha mining exploration in the region of Cajamarca and around the Yanacocha mine, have been able to recognize areas of high mineral potential. From 2009 exploration work were completed, conducting geological mapping and systematic sampling, followed up by geophysical work. For the next stage, drilling holes will be made to quantify and validate the anomalies in surface.
