This thesis has been essentially developed with a management and handling criteria to provide knowledge and technologies to reduce the hazards and toxicity of hazardous liquid waste generated in all activities of a chemical laboratory, either private or public. In Peru, there are studies of management and handling hazardous waste in general outline, for that reason the importance of developing a more specific topic of hazardous liquid waste generation has increased demand in most chemical laboratories that do not have right technologies to reduce waste. The management and handling model that is proposed will help many laboratories to carry the proper management and handling of liquid waste without having to download it through the sewers. We have as a references that chemical laboratories handle chemicals and perform various operations that lead to the generation of waste which, in most cases, are dangerous to health and the environment. Although the volume of waste generated is relatively low in relation to the coming from the industrial sector, it must not be regarded as a minor problem. The management and handling model of liquid waste generated in a chemical laboratory ranges from the identification, segregation, composition, characterization, classification, labeling and identification of containers used in each process. In addition, the internal management which receives the waste after its generation are handling, internal transportation, temporary storage, treatment, recovery, removal and disposal. To perform all these activities there is a contingency plan for rapid response and control of spills and fire. In the thesis it described in detail some chemical processes developed in the laboratory, which have increased demand for chemical analysis. The information gathered from each stage of the process helped to ensure effective management and handling of hazardous liquid waste generated. was performed in four processes that generate hazardous liquid waste, to represent the activities where a larger number of samples and chemical reagents are used, such as waste reduction from the source in the total cyanide distillation process, reducing the degree of hazard of the waste by the replacement of hazardous reagents with technology in the processes of dissolved oxygen and biochemical oxygen demand, and reuse of waste generated by pre-treatment before reuse it in the process of oil and fats. The results obtained on management and handling of hazardous liquid waste in the chemical laboratory, provide clear evidence that the proposed model will help other chemical laboratories that wish to implement within their facilities to meet the commitment we have towards the environmental care. It was observed that the proposed segregation helps to determine composition and quantity of wastes; it may help future researches on making a waste assesment. I believe that the information provided by the thesis will permit further work on management and handling of hazardous liquid waste generated by chemical laboratories that could help improve and expand the field of study on minimization. These works should provide knowledge and technologies that could be used in the city of Lima and other main cities of the country.
