It originated to demonstrate that improving the environmental performance of Compañia Minera Constable or any organization is not sufficient to fulfill environmental law and administrative requirements as this keeps the organization in a reactive state and can not be prevented possible effects environmental analysis because there is what the environmental performance of the organization, herefore a matter of this thesis show that when implemented environmental management system the organization will have the tools necessary to prevent, control and minimize the potential negative effects that can cause interactions with the environment. This thesis uses as a reference the 17 requirements of the international standard ISO 14001:2004 divided into 4 stages, starting with the preparation of an environmental review which shows how the organization is interacting with the environment (environmental aspects) and what is the law applicable environmental, depending on the result obtained is continuous with the planning system which defines environmental objectives and targets with their respective activities timetable for implementation and associated investment, once the system planned to proceed with the implementation process is defined responsibilities and functions, measuring the competence of staff so you can develop training programs and training to cover flaws found and sensitize 100% of staff, which determines and informs the media are related to environmental issues, controls the generation of important documents and determine system operational controls which are associated with critical environmental aspects of the organization both in normal condition, abnormal and emergency, completed this process continues with the follow-up phase by acquiring tools to help verify if the organization is operating according to plan and whether there these deviations are corrected. Finally, it explains what the task of senior management within the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of environmental management system.
