The plant sample was Ocimum basilicum (basil) and the biological sample was the Staphylococcus aureus strain; the extracts used were at concentrations of 50%, 75% and 100%. The 50% ethanolic extract of Ocimun basilicum obtained inhibition halos on Staphylococcus aureus of 9.93+10.33 mm, showing sensitivity to the extract. The 75% extract obtained inhibition halos on Staphylococcus aureus of 11.10+11.48 mm, presenting sensitivity to the extract of this bacterium. The 100% ethanolic extract obtained inhibition halos on Staphylococcus aureus of 13.27+13.64 mm, showing sensitivity to this bacterium, with a p value of ˂0.005. It is concluded that the ethanolic extract of Ocimum basilicum (basil) at concentrations of 100%, 75% and 50% present antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus
