The objective of the research is to determine the analgesic effect of the ethanolic extract of the leaves of Munnozia hastifolia (Poepp.) H.Rob. & Brettell (bat wing) in albino mice. Methodology It is experimental and cross-sectional. The technique is phytochemical screening to determine secondary metabolites and abdominal contortions induced with acetic acid in albino mice. Results in oral administration of the extract at 100, 250 and 500 mg/kg showed 21.04, 57.32 and 67.08 % analgesic effect with respect to the control, but administration of acetylsalicylic acid at 150 mg/kg showed 81.4%. Conclusion In the phytochemical screening, the presence of quinones, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenes, α,β-unsaturated lactones and saponins was evidenced and the dose of 500 mg/kg presented greater analgesic effect. The analgesic effect of the ethanolic extract of Munnozia hastifolia leaves is lower compared to acetylsalicylic acid in albino mice
