The objective is to evaluate the factors associated with self-medication in adolescents with acne treated at the Dermatology Department of JyM Clínica Real, with a non-probabilistic purposive sample of 65 adolescents using the survey technique and the instrument used was the questionnaire. The results show a prevalence of self-medication as almost always in 43% and 5% as always self-medicating, with a frequency of 15% doing it almost always; the main reasons being 29% who almost always do it because they follow the advice of others, 45% because they do not have time to go to the doctor, 31% because they have previous prescriptions and 37% respond that they almost always self-medicate induced by promotion, and 35% use various advertising media
