The objective of the research was to determine the antibacterial activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Cybistax antisyphilitica (Mart.) Mart "llangua" against Escherichia coli. The plant sample was collected from the Centro Poblado Sargento Lores, district and province of Jaén, department of Cajamarca, which was validated with a taxonomic identification certificate issued by an expert botanist. The hydroalcoholic extract was obtained by maceration of the dried plant material, in addition; the recognition of secondary metabolites was performed through phytochemical screening. The antibacterial activity of the hydroalcoholic extract was evaluated by the agar diffusion method at concentrations of 25 %, 50 %, 75 % and 100 % against Escherichia coli. As a result, the hydroalcoholic extract of the llengua leaves showed good solubility only in solvents of polar nature, by phytochemical screening.
