The study was the antibacterial effect of the ethanolic extract of Piper aduncum "matico" and Thymus vulgaris "thyme" on Staphylococcus aureus. The methodology was quantitative, cross-sectional with experimental design; the population consisted of Piper aduncum "matico" and Thymus vulgaris "thyme" and Staphylococcus aureus was considered as microbiological sample. The results showed that the ethanolic extract of matico at 50% and 100% was 20.53mm and 22.66mm respectively, on the other hand, the ethanolic extract of thyme at 50% and 100% had average inhibition halos of 21.39mm and 25.33mm. It is concluded that the ethanolic extracts of both plants have an antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus
