The objective of the present study was to determine the significant bioactivity of ethanolic and cloformic extracts of Piper carpunya R&P, Piper peltatum L. and Piper amalago L. leaves on Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv. An experimental, prospective, cross-sectional study design was used as a method. Convenience sampling was applied, and ethanolic and chloroformic extracts of 3 Piper plant species from the Peruvian territory were selected. The technique used was developed in two stages, preparation of dry extracts and application of the assay in microplates with resazurin. It was determined that the chloroformic extract of Piper amalago L presented a MIC equal to 62.5 μg/ml. In conclusion, Piper amalago L. is a great alternative of antituberculosis extracts and metabolites.
