Objective: To determine the association between the level of knowledge and attitudes towards exclusive breastfeeding among mothers attending La Querencia Health Center, Huaral. Materials and Methods: Quantitative approach with a cross-sectional comparative-observational design. The sample consisted of 100 mothers. The applied technique was the survey and the measurement instruments were questionnaires validated by expert judges. Results: The findings of the study report that there is no significant association between the variables of knowledge and attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding. When analyzing knowledge about breastfeeding, 69% of surveyed mothers had a high level of knowledge, 29% had a medium level, and 2% had a low level. Regarding attitudes towards breastfeeding, the vast majority of mothers 93% exhibited appropriate attitudes, while 7% showed inappropriate attitudes. It was evident that there is a statistically significant association between the level of knowledge and the level of education. Similarly, the results show an association between attitudes towards breastfeeding and type of birth. (p-value < 0.05). Conclusions: No significant association was found between the level of knowledge and attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding. Mothers presented a high to medium level of knowledge and appropriate attitudes towards breastfeeding.
