Objective: Determine the relationship between knowledge and practices in breastfeeding in mothers of children under 6 months old who attend a Health Center located in North Lima. Materials and methods: The present study has a quantitative approach, correlational/cross-sectional design. The sample was made up of 86 mothers with nursing children under 6 months of age. The technique used was the survey and the measurement instruments were two questionnaires, one on knowledge about breastfeeding and another on breastfeeding practices. Results: Regarding the general hypothesis, there was a statistical relationship between knowledge and practices in breastfeeding with a p<0.05 and Spearman's rho of 0.928. Likewise, regarding each of the specific hypotheses, a significant statistical relationship was found between each of the dimensions of knowledge about breastfeeding (generalities, breast milk, benefits and breastfeeding techniques) and breastfeeding practices since p<0.05 and Spearman's rho of 0.672, 0.774, 0.697 and 0.841 were obtained, respectively. Conclusions: According to the general hypothesis, a relationship was found between the main variables, knowledge and practices in breastfeeding.
