Objective: To analyze the social representations in nursing professionals about the occupational risk because of COVID-19 infection at the Carlos Lanfranco la Hoz Hospital, 2022. Material and method: Qualitative approach with a phenomenological research design. It was used a trial sampling. The data collection technique was the semi-structured interview. It was made an interview guide validated by expert judges which consisted of 12 items grouped into four subcategories referring to social representations. Results: In the analysis of the interviews performed on 15 nursing professionals, the main category was associated with social representations, which consists of four subcategories such as the information dimension, the attitude dimension, the image dimension and the opinion dimension. Conclusions: This study demonstrated that the majority of nursing health professionals showed ignorance regarding the use of personal protective equipment and the prevention and control of infections, becoming aware of it; consequently, it was found concern and fear of being able to infect their relatives due to the pandemic situation, so it was observed a change in the routine of health personnel when they arrived home carrying out preventive measures. Finally, the nursing professionals expressed that authorities support was insufficient since there was limit to offer holistic and quality care due to the risk of transmission of COVID-19.
