Breast self-examination is a preventive technique for the early diagnosis of breast neoplasia. The research was quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive and transversal. The objective was to identify health beliefs about breast self-examination in relatives of cancer patients at a hospital in Chiclayo, 2023. The sample consisted of 384 relatives. The Health Belief Model for Mother's Self-Exploration scale was used, which has factor analysis of the 6 dimensions, for which a reliability of 0.67, 0.73, 0.77, 0.87 and 0.80 was obtained. Belmont's ethical rigor criteria are respected. Subsequently, a statistical analysis was carried out with SPSS version 27 and a logistic regression was carried out with the levels obtained by dimension, with self-examination as the dependent variable and predictors of the sociodemographic data and the dimensions of the health belief model. Obtaining that 64.60% had not performed a breast self-examination in the last month, the majority obtained a high level in the dimension of perceived benefits and motivation for health, less than half a high level in perceived seriousness and self-efficacy, level under barriers and perceived susceptibility. The predictor variables that significantly influence the practice of self-examination are the dimensions of self-efficacy (p=0.000) and health motivation (p=0.010). In conclusion, the dimensions that obtained a high level were perceived benefits and motivation for health, while the dimensions of barriers and perceived susceptibility had a low level
