The objective of this research is to determine the aptitude for use of the 5-year-old species Eucalyptus urophylla x Eucalyptus grandis, by determining the physical-mechanical tests and evaluating the behaviour of these properties at the longitudinal level, carried out based on Peruvian Technical Standards. The average results obtained from the physical properties are classified as medium for basic density (0.57 g/cm3) and values of 10.29 percent, 6.65 percent, 0.38 percent for total tangential, radial contractions and longitudinal respectively, obtaining a high value in volumetric contraction (17.32%). The mechanical properties in saturated condition presented low values for stress at the proportional limit in compression perpendicular to the grain (48.98 kg/cm2); means for the MOR in static flexion (636.73 kg/cm2), maximum resistance in parallel compression (310.62 kg/cm2), shearing (84.72 kg/cm2) and hardness (419.75 kg/cm2); and high for ELP in parallel compression (195.08 kg/cm2) and MOE in static flexion (103 241.95 kg/cm2). The longitudinal analysis does not show significant differences for both physical and mechanical properties. The results obtained make it possible to propose the suitability of use for formwork and raw material for MDF, particle board and carbon.
