The objective of this work is to carry out a systematic review of the investigations carried out during the last five years in which intelligent systems have been developed for people with visual disabilities in order to identify the artificial intelligence mechanisms used in their implementation and with this knowledge generate future research proposals. To start the search, two databases were chosen, which are ProQuest and Scopus, where inclusion and exclusion criteria and then quality criteria will be applied. Therefore, the investigations were reduced to a total of thirteen sources that are the starting point to answer the research questions. The answers based on the questions detail the requested information with great precision, as well as presenting innovative solutions for society. Finally, it is concluded that the applications of intelligent systems applied to people with visual disabilities are increasing over time and that the countries with the greatest interest in this type of publication are those found in the Asian and American continents, contributing these types of solutions for the target audience and the entire community.
