Adolescence is a stage in which various physical and social changes are underwent, in the same way, students seek to show an image that is not always the true one, so their social desirability changes and they appear to be what they are not, that is why this research was developed, with the general objective of: to determine the level of achievement motivation in high school students of a private school in Chiclayo, 2023, and as specific objectives: to identify the level of achievement motivation according to sex, academic performance and level of studies of these students. The research design is non-experimental and descriptive, with a population of 270 students of the third, fourth and fifth grades of secondary school of both sexes, and a sample of 165. The technique presented was the survey and the instrument to be applied was the Thornberry Achievement Motivation Test (2003), as well as a sociodemographic file (ad hoc). Finally, the data analysis was carried out using the Microsoft Excel program in its latest edition. The results show that the students of the three grades present a high level of motivation for academic achievement; similarly, there is no significant difference between female and male students; however, it is observed that in the subject of mathematics is where their performance is affected, since a large number of students have grades between B and C in the second bimester, despite having a high motivation for academic achievement.
