This research addresses the topic of urban voids as opportunities for transformation in the urban development of Cenfrocafé, in Jaén. The overall objective is to design a temporary architectural space in response to the recovery and transformation of urban voids in the Cenfrocafé urban development in Jaén. Three specific objectives are proposed: analysis and characterization of the theoretical meaning of “urban void“ to define a conceptualization, recognition and physical description of the urban voids in the study area, and finally, proposing a temporary architectural space that generates conditions to activate the urban voids in the Cenfrocafé urban development in the city of Jaén. The methodology used in this research is a mixed approach, including descriptive and non-experimental studies, qualitative and quantitative analyses, analysis of the urban context, study of references, and search for suitable materials. The results highlight the importance of considering urban voids as opportunities for improvement, rather than obsolete spaces, and how their intervention can bring about urban and social changes. The need for urbanism with recycling strategies that modify both the visual and functional aspects of these spaces is also emphasized. This study provides a comprehensive vision to address the issue of urban voids and proposes temporary architectural solutions that can revitalize the environment.
