It was analyzed how the transfer of the mining canon impact on the academic performance of the students of the secondary level of the educational institutions of the UGEL Jorge Basadre of the region Tacna in the period 2009-2014. The amounts of the transfer of the fee and then the academic performance of the students of the secondary level in the educational institutions of the UGEL Jorge Basadre were determined. It was observed that the district municipality of Ite is the one that has invested the most with more than 25 million nuevos soles, in contrast, the district municipality of Ilabaya has invested an average of 10 million soles, being the one that has invested the least. Faced with this investment, the average academic performance of students in all areas of the secondary level curriculum for 2009 was 13.70 and in 2014 was 14.36, noting an increase and an achievement Close to the optimum minimum given by the qualification of 15. It was concluded that the investment of the mining canon in education has improved and positively impacted in the academic performance of the students, proving that to better investment in education greater academic performance. Local governments should promote education at all levels, to generate citizens with proactive, democratic capacity and skills to work with citizens, especially with rural people, the poorest and most needy.
