Abstract: RESUMEN

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine the prevalence of neonatal morbidity and mortality in children of mothers with Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy in Hospital Nacional Sergio E. Bernales during 2013. Methods: A descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study in which 217 clinical histories of infants born to mothers with preeclampsia, eclampsia or HELLP syndrome, which met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, were analyzed was designed. Results: Of the 217 patient records found that 24.9 % of the infants were premature , 21.7 % had Respiratory Distress Syndrome , 18.9 % low birth weight , 6.9 % were small for gestational age , 9.3 % and 2.3 % had low Apgar score at one and five minutes respectively. It was also found as a frequent morbidity, neonatal jaundice 14.7 %, 13.4 % and neonatal hypoglycemia 9.7 % sepsis. Mortality was 6.91% and the most frequent cause of neonatal death was sepsis. Conclusion: The prevalence of neonatal morbidity and mortality in children of mothers with pregnancy-induced hypertension is high and the most frequent complications were: prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, low birth weight, neonatal jaundice and hypoglycemia. Keywords: Mortality, morbidity, hypertensive diseases of pregnancy, preeclampsia, eclampsia and HELLP syndrome.
