identificando las mediaciones e instituciones por las que estas imágenes pasaron;
The present investigation aims to consider the categorization of contemporary Andean baroque in the Muruk'ocha (Laguna manchada) project, carried out by the contemporary Peruvian artist Alfredo Márquez (Lima, 1963) between the years 2011 and 2018. Muruk'ocha consists of a set of installations based on a series of acid-plated bronze plates that reproduce and intervene identification photographs of miners in the Morococha mining settlement, located in the heights of Perú’s central Andes during the 1930s, originally taken by the Peruvian photographer Sebastián Rodríguez (Huancayo, 1896 - Morococha, 1968). Through a method that integrates visual and conceptual analysis of the pieces and installations but that underlies their specific material production, this thesis first reconstructs the circulation of Rodríguez's images until appropriated by Márquez in the context of the Lima contemporary art circuit, identifying the mediations and institutions through which these images passed; and then asks, based on Márquez's specific modes of production and visual analysis of the pieces themselves, how these bronze plates relate to the artist's previous work and to the category of contemporary Andean baroque. Finally, we propose to read Muruk’ocha as a libdinal inverse and a spectral form of the contemporary Andean baroque envisaged by Márquez and discussed by Mujica and Buntinx.
