Currently, Peru is one of the most important countries in production and export of minerals worldwide, however, our country does not have the necessary port infrastructure to increase our export capacity, reducing our competitiveness in the market compared to other countries. The only port for the export of lead in our country is the port of Callao, which generates increased logistics costs due to the transportation of mineral, waiting time due to long queues and environmental contamination to the surrounding area. Our business model consists of supporting the construction of a Lead Concentrate Transfer Station at Terminal internacional del sur S.A. and develop a new business unit to export the mineral through the port of Matarani. Currently, all the trucks loaded with the mineral must drive long hours to reach Callao, so the exit through the port of Matarani will save distances to travel to the mining companies and will reduce the waiting time for attention. This new business unit will attract all the mining companies in the south, initially made up of the mines located in Arequipa, Cusco, and Puno. The initial investment for construction and managing the necessary permits amounts to USD 1’905,000, which will generate a NPV = USD 1’602,917 with an IRR = 33.89%, being a profitable project in the analysis period of 5 years. Likewise, this new business unit will generate both benefits and social costs, obtaining a Social NPV equivalent to USD 10,282, which will make this proposal socially profitable.
