The objective of this research is to analyze, the pattern of card consumption with two of the modifications introduced by the SBS in the credit card regulations, linked to the contracting of additional services and the use of transaction notifications. Thus, the consumption standard approach is analyzed based on what is established by the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP and by INDECOPI. In this order of ideas, a historical analysis of the evolution of the credit card regulatory framework is proposed, based on technological progress and the new needs of consumers. Regarding the aforementioned additional services, these elements are considered as part of the security measures that can be used to face electronic fraud in the use of credit cards that users may suffer. In this regard, it is pointed out that these measures are beneficial, but do not meet their consumer protection objectives because they are not adequately understood by users. In this sense, the importance of financial education is highlighted as a necessary element for consumer protection and alternative solutions are proposed that could help to achieve a better understanding of the products offered in financial matters.
