The objective of this research work is to analyze the effect of gender on access to deposit accounts in the peruvian financial system in the period from 2015 to 2018. To do this, the ENAHO database and the discrete choice model are used (Logit) with the objective of observing how the gender difference can be observed or not in the determinants of access to a deposit account. A base is built that combines information on the possession of deposit accounts and their possible determinants, controlling in each of them by gender. Those results may show that older people with higher income levels are more likely to have a deposit account, while the difference in income is more favorable for men than for women. Similarly, those people with a job are more likely to have a deposit account and although the gap between men and women has been decreasing until the end of 2018, the difference is still high. Other variables that show the difference in gender in holding deposit accounts are educational level, residence, whether they are in Metropolitan Lima or other regions of Peru.
